The Ballad of Vagari and the Donkey

Vagari was likely the most skilled thief and conman among Borea's Moon People who ever lived. There are countless stories about his exploits. But at times, even he found his master. In this story, said "master" was a sorcerer, who had been turned into a donkey, seeking help.

Lyrics English

Verse:
Sly Vagari once walked the streets,
Claiming power, doing magic deeds.
With illusions bright, he fooled the crowd,
His tricks were hollow, though he stood proud.

For a "small" fee, he'd lend a hand,
Said his magic was in high demand.
But then a donkey, talking clear,
Asked for help, to end his fear.

Chorus:
Lo, Vagari, the charlatan grand,
Fooled by a donkey's stern command.
Braying loud to expose his plan,
Until he freed the sorcerer-man.

Verse:
The donkey claimed he'd once been great,
A sorcerer, now in this state.
A curse had left him in this form,
By a sorceress' magic storm.

Vagari refused, didn't want to deal,
But the donkey knew the con was real.
He followed close with a braying sound,
Drawing eyes from all around.

Chorus:
Lo, Vagari, the charlatan grand,
Fooled by a donkey's stern command.
Braying loud to expose his plan,
Until he freed the sorcerer-man.

Bridge:
With no escape from the donkey's bray,
Vagari sought to end his dismay.
He found the witch and stole her charm,
To turn the donkey back, away from harm.

Verse:
The medallion's magic in his hand,
He freed the sorcerer, broke the band.
With a flash, the donkey turned,
Back to a man, his power earned.

Vagari fled from donkeys near,
Their braying now his greatest fear.
For a year he wandered wide,
Haunted by the bray, he'd hide.

Chorus:
Lo, Vagari, the charlatan grand,
Fooled by a donkey's stern command.
Braying loud to expose his plan,
Until he freed the sorcerer-man.
